Thank you for submitting your Foster Parent Application. Please allow our Foster Coordinator 5-7 days to review your application. Please note, that we complete a background check on all volunteers and we reserve the right to deny your application for any reason.
As a foster parent, it will be your responsibility to care for these pets humanely and follow all instructions given by HSP staff, the Foster Coordinator and the Behavior Department.
Pets in the foster care program are the property of HSP and must be returned at the end of the foster period. Foster pets may not be released to any other party. If you are interested in adopting your foster pet, you will be required to pay the adoption fee.
Your foster pet(s) are required to return to the shelter at the scheduled times for treatments and vaccinations. You need to notify the Foster Coordinator immediately if your foster pet becomes ill. Any medical tests, treatments, procedures, or vaccinations are at the discretion of HSP staff.
Any pet brought into your home may have contagious diseases that could infect your own animals. The best ways to prevent cross-contamination are to isolate the foster pet(s) from your personal pet(s) and to disinfect yourself before and after handling the foster pet(s). In the event that your personal pet(s) become sick or injured, you will be responsible for your pets' treatment and HSP is not accountable.
Failure to follow any rules, care instructions or scheduled appointments will result in the discontinuation of your participation in our program and/or legal action.
