brenton gallas, DVM, medical director
Brenton was born in Youngstown, Ohio into a family that supported his love and curiosity of animals. Two of his favorite childhood pets include Fred and Ethel, a fun loving pair of Pekin ducks. He graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida after earning a degree in business from Fordham University, as well as a degree in biomedical sciences from the University of South Florida. Brenton has worked with animals for over 16 years, starting as a veterinary assistant during high school in northeast Ohio. Since then he has worked in several animal care settings and with many different animals, including manatees! His interests include surgery, preventative veterinary care, and healthy behavior.
Brenton most enjoys partnering with pet owners and community members towards improving the overall wellness of pets in our neighborhood and working to end pet homelessness. In his free time, Brenton likes to go on outdoor adventures with his partner Sarah Grace, as well as relax at home with their pets: Comrade the snuggly dog, Albie (“Pudd”) the mischievous cat, and two sun-loving turtles. Most recently Brenton and Sarah Grace have ventured into the world of backyard chicken raising with their very own flock of very beautiful and rambunctious hens: Lulabelle, Darcy, Samara, and Lena (who should be laying their very first eggs any day now!).
