Aid A Pet
We are not currently accepting any new Aid A Pet clients.
HSP provides financial assistance to committed pet owners with financial hardship whose animals need diagnosis, treatment, and/or surgery to correct a serious medical condition. HSP pays the discounted veterinarian’s fees. In turn, the owner repays the Humane Society. This program does not cover routine medical care or exams.

Care For Life
Our Care for Life program allows you the peace of mind to know that your pets will be cared for when you are no longer able to do so yourself. After an owner’s death or incapacitation, beloved pets are sometimes forgotten, given to a friend or relative who may not be able to care for another pet, or surrendered to a shelter with no background information or medical history. Through our Care for Life program, we will assist you in making the best possible arrangements to ensure the future of your pet(s).
For more information, contact Megan Kempshall by email or by calling (727) 797-7722 x230.

Humane Euthanasia & Cremation
HSP understands that the decision to say goodbye to a pet is a difficult and heartwrenching one. When the time comes, HSP will be there to help you and your pet by performing humane euthanasia at your request.
When you bring your pet in for humane euthanasia, our caring staff will bring the pet to a special room and promptly perform euthanasia by injection, the most humane euthanasia method. This painless procedure will be carried out with compassion and respect.
Fees vary based on the weight of the pet: euthanasia and cremation for pets less than 40 pounds is $50; for pets 40 pounds and up, the fee is $100. If you prefer, the pet may be cremated individually and the ashes returned to you in a tasteful urn for an additional $50 fee.
If your pet has passed away at home, we also offer cremation only. Please call for cremation-only fees. Appointments are preferred for humane euthanasia requests; please call our Admissions Office at (727) 797-7722 x232 and a caring Admissions Specialist will schedule your pet’s appointment and answer any questions you may have.

Pet Surrender
Have circumstances arisen that require you to relinquish your pet? HSP accepts owner-surrendered pets by appointment. Your pet will be medically and behaviorally evaluated for adoption placement.
Our policy of "treating the treatable and training the trainable” with no time limit means that our shelter is always full of pets waiting for homes, so we must accept pets by appointment only.
Please click here for more information on our Humane Euthanasia policy.
To make an appointment for pet surrender, please call our Admissions Office at (727) 797-7722 x232.
