Hold for Home Application We realize that sometimes emergencies occur that may prevent you from being able to care for your pet temporarily; however, your commitment to your pet prevents you from wanting to proceed with surrender. In certain circumstances, the Humane Society of Pinellas is able to temporarily provide housing for these pets. Each application is evaluated by our Pet Resource Team and individuals must qualify for our Hold for Home Program. Please understand that this program is for emergencies only. Last minute vacations, or full boarding facilities due to poor planning, do not qualify as exigent circumstances and will not be approved for the program. The Humane Society of Pinellas relies solely on donations for all programming and resources for pet owners. Pets accepted into the program will be surrendered to the shelter, with the agreement the pet will be returned to the owner on a predetermined date. Pets in the program will be among the shelter population of pets, and therefore are exposed to outdoor weather conditions, stress of the shelter environment and potential illness, and this must be taken into account. All pets admitted into the program will be fully vaccinated, microchipped and altered prior to being returned to the owner. If owners do not come forward after the agreed upon boarding period, the pet will be placed up for adoption. Please note HSP is a very small facility with limited housing capacity, so we cannot always accept pets for temporary boarding. Alternative options should always be explored while your application is being reviewed. Please complete the application below for our Hold for Home program. Please allow 24-48 hours for review of your application.
