Pet Hospital Staff
Kyle Kushubar, DVM
Growing up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Dr. Kyle Kushubar’s career path took him to Florida where he became the HSP Clinic Veterinarian in October of 2015. Being surrounded by a variety of pets during his childhood (and already owning a white coat with Dr. Kushubar proudly branded on the front) motivated him to become a veterinarian. Dr. Kushubar received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences from West Virginia University before earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in the West Indies. Since working with HSP, Dr. Kushubar’s passion for shelter medicine lies in the pet hospital, as he feels a strong community connection through his ability to help pets and their families in Pinellas County. In his free time, Dr. Kushubar studies Japanese aquascaping and is an amateur ghost hunter.
Fransia Markou, DVM
Dr. Fransia Markou was born and raised here in Clearwater, Florida. Growing up with parents in the medical field, Dr. Markou naturally gained an interest in science and medicine. Ever since she was young, she has always had a passion and love for animals and their wellbeing. Combining these two passions motivated her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Markou attended the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Science. She then moved to St. Kitts and Nevis to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her educational training with a year of clinical rotations at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Markou’s interests include shelter medicine, preventative health care and surgery. Working at the Pet Hospital gives her the opportunity to give back to the community and help families keep their pets healthy and happy. In her free time, Dr. Markou loves to go for walks and swims on the beach, relax at home with her pets, and spend time with her family and friends.
